1. The Langley United Youth Soccer Association
We are so fortunate to have had two coaches from the LUYSA spend an entire week with our students. Over the week, the kids learned many soccer skills, how to work as a team and built positive self esteem within themselves. It was a great experience and we can’t thank LUYSA enough for sharing their time and passion for soccer with us.
2. Artifacts
Students in Mrs. Cunningham’s class talked about their heritage this week. While on a field trip they got to see artifacts from the past and discovered what they were and how they were used. Then they shared their own personal artifacts back in class.
3. Science World
The Grade 5’s had a great trip to Science World this week learning and playing all day long.
4. Dioramas
Mrs. Jackson’s class presented their research on an animal including their habitat, diet, enemies and more. Students did research, created a habitat and then presented their projects to the class. Very interesting.
5. The LMCS Garden
The sun is out and the garden is a busy place! Many classes were in the garden this week pulling weeds, loosening soil, planting seeds and plants and watering items already growing. I am so thankful we have this space as I watch the kids learn with hands on activities.
6. Bouncing Egg
What happens to an egg when it sits in vinegar? Will it bounce or break? The kids in Mrs. Cunningham’s class put their questions to the test this week.
7. Aboriginal Art
Sto:lo artist Carman McKay (Lizard Warrior) worked in Coquitlam District for several years before recently coming to Langley. He came to do story telling with Div. 5 on his first visit; he shared a lot of information about the Sto:lo and other west coast first nations, took us on a “vision quest” and told several Sto:lo legends/creation stories. The second visit he did directed drawing with the children, using “letters” to teach the children the first nations shapes used in westcoast first nations art. He helped develop this way of teaching the art form to others and it is really quite brilliant. He enjoyed our children and said he’d come back to visit them!
8. Animal Presentation
Sonny, a Grade One student from Mrs. Watson/Tulloch’s class came to share his fabulous presentation on pigs. He had interesting facts and confidently shared his information with his audience. Nicely done, Sonny :O)

9. Afternoon Tea
The LMCA hosted a Mother’s Day Tea on Friday and it was just lovely. Daughters and mothers spent a few hours together enjoying special activities like makeup, nail polish, henna, hair curling, finger sandwiches and more. A very big thank you to Erin, Joanne and Joanne’s daughter who made this special time happen.
