Mustang Moments March 14th

March 14, 2014

1. Gone Skating

Ms. Powar, Mrs. Randa and Mrs. Treleaven-Parker’s classes went skating this week and had a blast! It was nice for the grade 3’s to spend some fun time together. Thanks to all of the parents who came along to help tie skates!

2. Starry Night

Mrs. Randa’s student teacher, Ms. Fraser, has been painting with the kids and the pictures are lovely! She has taken them step by step through a process of recreating Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”. I can’t wait to see their finished pieces!

3. Leaning Tower of Recycling

Some of the students in Mrs. Watkin’s class felt creative this week and independently decided to create a piece of art made from recycled materials. Very cool!

4. Ancient Civilizations

Mrs. Farrer’s student teacher Ms. Hall has been teaching the kids about ancient civilizations in social studies.  The kids were required to create a news script in character from an ancient time. They were busy filming these skits and I can’t wait to see how all of the news casts turn out!

5. Math Games

The students in Mrs. Powar’s class created Math games and then spent some time this week teaching each other how to play their games. The kids had great fun and practiced math skills at the same time.

6. Warm Weather

We couldn’t resist the warm days this week and snuck outside for some vitamin D and exercise! It’s always fun to play with friends in the sun!

7. Happy St. Patrick’s Day

The students in Mr. Nelson’s class built Leprechaun traps and we had some sneaky visitors to both Mr. Nelson’s class and to Mrs. S-K’s class but we didn’t seem to catch any! Maybe next year! Mrs. Cunningham’s class also started the day with a green pancake breakfast! Yum!

8. Jump Rope For Heart

What an awesome day! The day was filled with energy and skipping craziness! Thank you to Mrs. Cunningham for organizing this great day and to Mrs. Erickson for making it all run smoothly in the gym. We had groups of kids in the gym all day long skipping and making their hearts healthy! Thank you for the fundraising you have done so far! We appreciate all of your efforts for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. You can continue to collect pledges until April 4th.
