1. Coins for Kids and The Pajama Project update

We wanted to once again thank you for all of your generosity prior to the Christmas break for these two projects. Coins for Kids raised over $1300 part of which was used to support LMCS families for Christmas and the rest will be used throughout the year to continue to support LMCS families.

The students wore pajamas the last day of school and generously donated $511.45 to the Pajama Project! This money will all be used to purchase pajamas and/or books for grieving parents who have lost a child.

Thank you so much for being such an amazing community that gives so generously. Thank you for role modeling for our children how to care for others.

2. Soapstone Carving

Jennie Heyes, school district Aboriginal Support Worker, demonstrated the carving procedure to Ms. Chijiwa’s class and asked the students to use their imagination to decide what shape or animal they would like to carve. The students got right to work creating their own sculpture! A small tea light candle was placed in the pre-drilled hole in the centre of the carving to imitate a traditional seal oil lamp (“Kulik”).
