Mustang Moments April 17

1. What’s your Blood Made Up Of?

Mrs. Watkins’ grade 4/5 students used yummy treats to recreate what our blood is made up of. Marshmallows represented the white blood cells, red cheerios were the red blood cells, yellow water was the plasma and bits of apricot were the platelets! When creating the model the students had to know the percentage of each of these in our blood. The red blood cells had the most, then a few white cells and even less platelets. Students finished by drawing and labeling a diagram. It was a great way for the kids to remember what is in our blood and how much of each.

2. Moving Out!

Mrs. S-K’s class transferred their spud potatoes from the classroom to the garden this week. Now that the spuds are a certain size and the weather has begun to warm up it is time for them to move out! The kids will continue to care for them outside and in a few months they will have mounds of potatoes!

3. He Shoots He Scores!

The students have been learning the rules and skills of how to play the game of hockey in gym class. Here are some up and coming goalies!

4. Space Center

Mrs. Cunningham’s class visited the HR MacMillan Space Centre this week and participated in Surfing the Solar System, A Day in Space & Cosmic Courtyard Gallery. They learned about our solar system, astronauts space stations and more. It was a great day.
