Principal’s Message
We wish you all a wonderful holiday season filled with all the best gifts: family, friends, time together, laughter and memory-making.
Warmly,
Beth Cairnie, Principal

Learning This Week
Ms. Harold’s students combed the hallways as they completed a holiday scavenger hunt. They use the iPad to capture evidence of their items and share these images in class with their peers.

Division 1 created charming centrepieces for their homes. The time and care they invested was evident in their final projects.

Our Kindergarten classes all visited Lochiel Schoolhouse this week to enjoy a turn of the century Christmas. Thank you to teachers for your work in making this opportunity possible and to all of our parent volunteers who took the time to chaperone on these wonderful trips. Here is Mrs. McArthur’s class enjoying the experience together and also Mrs. O’Keefe’s students having a wonderful experience.

Pyjama day was great fun for all and we certainly had fun watching movies, enjoying the FREE popcorn from PAC (THANK YOU!!!) and having a quiet, final day of 2019. Here is Ms. Keeley’s class in their ‘jammies.
Mr. Richardson’s students have graced their classroom and hallways with string art this fall, culminating in some beautiful hallway designs.

Crafting abounds at Christmas! Here are Mr. Raphael’s students working to complete intricate holiday wreathes for their families.

Christmas has been alive and well in Mrs. Buyco-Galloway’s class, with gift giving, holiday wear and always a culture of literacy!

Week at a Glance
Our first week back together is a focused one, with no special events. A great way to hunker down into 2020 and centre ourselves on learning.
Staffing Updates
We are excited to be welcoming Ms. Sugawara to our resource team as learning assistance teacher. Ms. Wong is also an addition to the Meadows team, replacing Mrs. Walsh in Grade 1. In the interim absence of our vice principal, Mr. McArthur, a retired principal from the Langley District, will be supporting our school two days a week. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to our community. They will soon see that they have landed in an outstanding school to learn and grow together.
Why – The Heart of Our Work at Langley Meadows
Early in the school year, staff were asked to express their “why” behind their work. Each wrote about the individual vision and mission that is a driving force behind their daily work. I hope you will take time in early January to see what these outstanding educators wrote. Their ideas are featured in our display case in the front of the school. Inspiring!

PAC News This Week
Santa Sale and Raffle Sale:
The Santa and Raffle sale was a huge success! We made almost $3,000 to help fund furnishings for the Learning Commons and Maker Space Materials. We are so thankful to those of you that donated items and prizes and your volunteer time to help this day be such a memorable for so many children. The spirit of generosity was alive and well at the sale. We saw countless times where Big Buddies were supporting Little Buddies so well, friends were sharing their money with those that were without, and such thoughtfulness going into choosing just the right gift for a loved one. As you unwrap the gifts the children have selected, do keep in mind their smiling faces as they got to choose out a gift from their heart just for you.
Christmas Staff Appreciation Luncheon:
Thank you to those that donated financially and with food items to help make this event so special for our all the school staff! They were truly blessed and very full from this special luncheon.
