New Playground Complete
We are thrilled that our new play / learning space is complete! It’s been a long journey but our school is so excited about the learning possibilities in our new outside classroom and can’t wait for kids to play and explore in this new natural play area. A big thank you to our financial contributors, our school PAC, the Royal Bank of Canada and the Langley School District Foundation. Another big thank you to one of our parents, Wyatt, who donated the trees for the perimeter of the playground. If you are playing on the playground after school could you support and reinforce two rules that we have talked to the kids about, no picking up the river rocks and no walking on the table benches and the table itself. When we take a class outside to use the table for outdoor learning we don’t want it covered in mud. Thank you.
Young Entrepreneur
Our Grade 5 students worked so hard on this project. They had to develop a business plan, create and advertise a product, and then sell their merchandise! They gym was a buzz of activity all day on Thursday as each class went through with the opportunity to make a purchase! It was fantastic. Thank you to the teachers for guiding this learning and thank you to the parents for all of your support.
Jump Rope For Heart Fundraising Link
Our annual JRFH event is coming up March 15th. Over the past 19 years our school has raised $80, 542.08 dollars!! This fundraiser has special meaning for me as my mom has had a quadruple bypass and I am so appreciative of the research that the Heart and Stroke Foundation has done over the years which has contributed to saving lives. If you are able to make a donation, please click on the link below.
In the last week we have raised $1970 which is over half way to our school goal of $3500!! Shout out to the top three fundraisers, Avani S who has raised $450, Savana M who has raised $300, and Jack Z who has raised $250 so far!! Woohoo!!
Boys Basketball Tournament
The boys had their final basketball tournament this week at Mountain High School. It was fun for the boys as they had the opportunity to play multiple games against multiple teams and it was hosted in the new middle school they will be moving to next year! They were troopers and played hard and did a great job! Some of them even complained of sore legs the next morning! A big thank you to the parents who came out to cheer the boys on and a tremendous thank you to Shann, Jason, Mrs. Walsh and Mr. Sum for coaching.
