Angel tree 2014 picture1. The Angel Project Fund

A few weeks ago VanCity [Willowbrook branch] requested that children at Langley Meadows colour angels for their Christmas tree.  LMCS students participated in colouring angels and passed these onto VanCity. It is hoped that clients who bank at VanCity adopt “an angel” and purchase gifts for a member of our community who is seeking refuge at Ishtar Transition Housing Society.

Mrs. Cunningham’s class, who helped color the angles, will also choose 2 angles from the tree. Students will raise money by doing extra chores at home and contribute to a fund to buy gifts for the chosen angels. Students will brainstorm appropriate gift ideas and vote what to purchase. This project gives the young students an opportunity to contribute to their community.

2. Crossing Guards

Thank you to Mrs. French who donated these super cute hot chocolate mugs for any of the crossing guards who forget. Each morning and after school the crossing guards can have hot chocolate to warm up after their very important duties, they just have to remember their mugs! These mugs will definitely come in handy :O)

Mrs. Danford’s big buddies helped their little buddies in Mrs. S-K’s class write a draft letter to the man in the red suit who visits homes next month.  Little Buddies are eagerly awaiting a response from the North Pole!
 4. Oral Language Presentations
The students in Mrs. S-K’s grade two class presented short oral language speeches on a plant of their choice. Each presentation was unique and very informative.  Great Job Division 9!
