1. Centennial Museum
Division’s 17 and 18 participated in a pioneer Christmas experience. The kids used their imagination to travel back in time. They were divided into 3 groups and rotated between gathering around the Christmas tree and opening gifts, preparing stockings and putting coal in for the naughty kids, baking gingerbread cookies, playing with wooden toys and porcelain dolls, or part of a shadow puppet show. They also went caroling and visited the general store. They had great questions and were so polite and respectful that they were complemented from everyone and were invited back for next year. They were even allowed to book for December 2014! First one to have that chance at this time of the year! Very proud of the children. 😊
2. Ancient Egyptians
Students in Division 2 dressed as ancient Egyptians and then skyped into the classroom where other students had to ask them questions about their lives in Ancient Egypt! The students did a great job with both their thoughtful questions and their answers. In order to accomplish both of these roles the students had to know a lot about the people and lives of this ancient civilization.

3. Water Works Coloring Contest
The Langley Environmental Partners Society held a coloring contest and there were 22 classes entered from Langley schools which amounted to just over 450 entries from students. We are pleased to announce that Division 14 Mrs S-K’s class was the winning class for Grade Two with the students winning a class pizza party!
Honourable mentions were also given to Lilly from Mr Nelson’s class in Grade One and to Mrs Cunnigham’s Grade Two class.
We are so proud of all of your talents! Congratulations!
4. A promise is a promise!
In September when the students began selling Entertainment books I promised them that if they sold over 500 books I would wear a chicken suit and do the chicken dance…well today was the day! We had a great time dancing together in the assembly to celebrate how much money they raised for our school!

5. Today’s assembly
The grade 7 students have formed into three groups to formulate projects to help others. Today at the assembly they presented their ideas to the school. We also recognized the cross country team from earlier in the Fall and the volleyball teams which are currently finishing up their season. We are thrilled that so many students are involved in extra curricular activities.
6. Coins for Kids
As many of you already know, our school does a coin drive every year just before Christmas called Coins for Kids. In the past, we have raised money to send supplies and gifts to third world countries, including schools and orphanages in Mexico. This year, we have decided to use the monies raised to support children and their families closer to home. All monies raised from Coins for Kids this year will go to making Christmas hampers for local families and providing food, clothing and other necessities for our local community at Christmas and, hopefully, throughout the year.
In addition to supporting Coins for Kids, you are welcome to make donations of food, gift cards or other items for Christmas hampers. Feel free to drop off your donations to the box in the front foyer or drop them off at the office to the attention of Jean Moir.
Thank you so much for helping our students make a difference in the lives of local families.
7. Book Fair
Book Fair is being hosted at the school next week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Students and parents will have an opportunity to come and take a look at all of the books and merchandise for sale in the library. It is the perfect time of year to stock up on Christmas gifts. We hope you come and take a look.
